Important - Updating Class Lists in SafeSkills for the New School Year

As you prepare for the new school year, you may wish to review the users in your SafeSkills account to reflect new students/classes and those who have left.

If you do not wish to change your classes OR never added student users/classes since signing up, you do not need to do anything. When you are ready to start using SafeSkills, simply add our users according to the instructions on the main info page.

If you only wish to remove certain classes/users and/or add new users/classes but the rest are still needed and have the same class names etc, follow the steps in Option 1 below ⤵️

If you – this will be most schools! – want to wipe all users and start again, which is probably the best and easiest option as class names will change and there will be some user flux, follow the steps in Option 2 below ⤵️

Option 1 - If you only wish to remove certain classes/users and/or add new users/classes

  1. First export data for the year, as once it has been deleted it cannot be recovered (from the Insights/User Insights menu item). You can then choose to save it on your school system or delete it.

  1. Find individual users/classes to delete by choosing the Users/Users menu item, sorting (click the column headings) or searching (search box at the top) to show the users you want to delete, then tick the boxes for relevant pupils and click BULK DELETE at the top

  1. Add new classes using the process you followed when setting up SafeSkills (Users/User Import menu item)

Option 2 - If you want to wipe all users and start again for the new year (recommended)

  1. Export data for that year, as once it has been deleted it cannot be recovered (from the Insights/User Insights menu item). You can then choose to save it on your school system or delete it.

  1. You may wish to use last year’s class lists again and update class names etc and add new students rather than start from scratch. If so, export classes via the Users/User Export menu item.

  1. Otherwise go to Users/User Import, download the template file, enter your classes there ready to import and save

  2. But as part of the process we will force you to download the data - you can then choose to store or delete

  3. Now go to Schools, select your school and click the red delete all data button and follow the instructions. Note as part of the process we will force you again to download the data that is being permanently deleted from our servers.

  1. From Users/User Import, upload the file and follow the instructions to import your users by selecting Choose File / Upload CSV file / Import Data

  2. If you need new admin (staff) users this school year, add them via Users/Admin Users

Enjoy using SafeSkills!

We hope you enjoy using SafeSkills with your classes again this year in your RSHE and other online safety lessons. For a reminder of what it’s all about, please go to safeskillsinfo.lgfl.net. Remember the tool is intended to allow to you track progress across the year, so do it early and again later in the year to show progress. It is in line with the UKCIS Education for a Connected World framework, so use this and your SafeSkills results showing strengths and weaknesses to inform your teaching throughout the year.

We would love to have your feedback – please mail us about how you are finding it at safeguarding@lgfl.net – we would love some case study schools!
