Security, Protection &

Device Management

LGfL cares deeply about cybersecurity and offers a market-leading suite of products for free as part of the LGfL subscription. We call this Cybercloud and it has 12 layers of protection - read more here and find out more below about some of our services. Remember to read and share the top tips above first.

Security School Report is a free tool from LGfL that looks at your school's 'digital footprint' and checks it for known weaknesses in security to provide a score for your school.

Broadly, the higher the score the less vulnerable the school is. At no charge, LGfL can provide you with a report detailing your vulnerabilities; and more importantly, how to fix them.  Click here to request your score.

LGfL's Internal Critical Vulnerability Scanner identifies potential security gaps and risks in the school network. The tool scans the local network looking for known vulnerabilities that a cybercriminal could take advantage of if they gained access to a computer within the school.

LGfL provides your school with a full report of the vulnerabilities that have been identified and information on how they can be mitigated.

LGfL Let's Get Digital Broadband Customers can request a vulnerability scan for free.

WebScreen is a flexible, safe web filter designed specifically for schools, whether a small primary or a large MAT. Using industry-grade Netsweeper technology, WebScreen functionality helps streamline a complex task: keeping children safe online.

MailProtect is an email filtering service, offering users versatile functionality and protection from email-borne spam, viruses, and abuse.

Gridstore is a resilient, encrypted, off-site backup storage management platform that uses Redstor's Enterprise Server Edition (ESE) software. Backup your “mission critical” data automatically and on a daily basis to help comply with the GDPR requirements for your schools data

Using Egress you can make sure data is securely emailed to the right recipient, easily share large files, collaborate on documents, and provide third parties with a way to securely share data with you.

LGfL HomeProtect is a Cloud based web filtering solution for devices when they aren’t in school.

The Malwarebytes software cleans up malware and other malicious software on devices that may make its way into your school. With a centralised cloud console, there is no need to visit each PC, and scheduled scans can be done from anywhere. Deployment to your endpoint is quick and management is simple.

Meraki Mobile Device Management - enables secure management and control of all school devices (including PCs) as well as providing features such as the remote deletion of data (a GDPR requirement).

Sophos Intercept X employs a comprehensive defence-in-depth approach to endpoint protection rather than simply relying on one primary security technique. This is the “the power of the plus” – a combination of leading foundational (traditional) and modern (next-gen) techniques. Intercept X integrates the industry’s top-rated malware detection and exploit protection with built-in endpoint detection and response (EDR).

Phishing is a business, but it doesn’t stop at the school gate. If you are a busy teacher trying to sort as many emails as possible before the next lesson, it can be so easy to click on a suspicious email. Especially since they often don’t even look suspicious anymore.

We can’t all become cybersecurity gurus, so what’s the answer? Part of the solution may be the phishing simulation and training tool Sophos Phish Threat, on offer to all LGfL schools as part of their subscription.

LGfL schools are being offered the use of Sophos Home antivirus software free of charge to staff at LGfL schools. This commercial edition of Sophos protects up to 10 personal (not school! Use the other Sophos products for that) devices (PCs or Macs) per household.
