Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022
All resources updated for the 1 September 2022 version
Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022 has some key changes and we have prepared resources to help you:
Watch our summary video of the 1 September changes below (updated since the June video) including ideas for next steps
NEW - we have created a document to help your annual policy review with a checklist of KCSIE mentions of what must be in your policies
If you have EAL colleagues, our translations of Part 1/Annex A into 13 community languages may be handy
If you are interested, see how LGfL features in KCSIE this year
...and of course, head to gov.uk to read the document for yourself
The slides used in the video may be helpful. Click through them here
Some of the links mentioned in the video that might help you with some of the changes were: KCSIE itself / online safety audit tool / appropriate language CPD video / Undressed song/animation / governor training / DfE online challenges doc / LGfL 'scare' guidance / 20-minute training on filtering for DSLs/SLT / KCSIE translations
We went through KCSIE 22 with a fine-toothed comb to extract mentions of elements you must have in your school policies. As you do your annual reviews of school policies, this may be a good starting point. Let us know what you think!
This year we added Ukranian to the other 12 languages already there for KCSIE Part 1 and Annex A. They are free for any school in the country so spread the word and make sure ALL staff are able to read it AND understand it!
